Who we are
The Guildford Centre for Psychotherapy is a professional association of psychoanalytic psychotherapists founded in 1976 in the Southern Counties.
All GCP members are fully trained and qualified psychoanalytic psychotherapists from well-known training organisations. They bring to their work as psychotherapists a rich variety of professional experience - for example, as psychodynamic counsellors, supervisors, consultants, trainers and seminar leaders, conference and study day organisers. Some also have professional backgrounds in medicine and social work.
The training or professional bodies of GCP members include:
- Association for Group and Individual Psychotherapy(AGIP)
- Arbours Association of Psychotherapists
- British Association of Psychotherapists
- British Association for Psychoanalytic and Psychodynamic Supervision
- The Bowlby Centre
- The Guild of Psychotherapists
- Institute of Group Analysis
- Institute of Psychotherapy and Social Studies
- Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling (WPF)
- The Lincoln Centre
- London Centre for Psychotherapy
- Tavistock Clinic
- WPF Therapy
Members of GCP are registered with either the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) or the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and subscribe to the GCP's Code of Ethics.
